Ways to Increase Motel Sales

Motel Sales Income

Increasing Your Motel Sales Revenue

In one of our previous blogs, we discussed the benefits of selling the experience when trying to increase motel sales. Of course, that’s not the only thing you can do to drive traffic and revenue. It’s important to not forget about the more traditional methods of increasing your motel sales. A good marketing mix consists of both new and tested techniques to get the best results. Let’s review some of the basics.

Consider Your Location

As always, one of the biggest draws of a motel is where it’s located. Convenience is key when it comes to motel sales. Most of the time, people won’t go out of the way to stay at a certain motel. If your motel is in a prime location, make sure you’re taking full advantage of that fact. For instance, is your motel listed on the exit signs if you’re off the highway? Paying for an annual permit allows your logo to be on the exit signs that lead to your motel. This lets travelers know that your motel is conveniently located right off the exit. If your location is less than ideal, find out what sets your area apart. Is there a fairly big tourist attraction nearby? See if they’ll carry advertising materials for your motel at their location. You may have to get creative to make sure potential guests are aware of your property.

Build Online Presence

One way to get noticed is to create an online presence for your motel. This means having a presence on both social media and search engines like Google. For social media, weigh the necessity of being on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other platforms. You don’t want to spread yourself too thin, especially if guests aren’t looking for your property on certain platforms. Does your motel attract a younger generation of guests? Instagram may be worth looking into as a way to reach them, as this is an extremely popular platform for younger guests. Facebook is almost a necessity at this point, so make sure you have at least somewhat of a presence on that platform. You also should see how well you’re doing on search engines. Ranking higher on Google is a great way to boost your motel sales. If your motel isn’t showing up very high on Google search results, it might be worthwhile looking into digital marketing to boost your rankings.

Understand Your Financial Flow

Finally, the best way to understand your motel sales revenue is to look at the numbers. Check your financial reports to see what is and what isn’t working. By knowing exactly where your money is coming and going, you’ll have a more comprehensive view of your income and revenue sources. This can help guide the marketing decisions you make in the future.
