Southeast International: Popular Hotel Trends to Expect in 2017
Southeast International: Hotel Trends for the Future
There’s no doubt that the hospitality industry continues to evolve as consumer demand grows and changes. While there were plenty of changes in 2016, we can expect to see even more changes in hotel trends for 2017.
As a leader in the hotel brokerage industry, it’s our job here at Southeast International to stay on top of trends in the industry, as these can affect the valuation of hotel and motel properties. Here are just a few hotel trends you can expect to see in 2017.
Mobile App Check-In
The use of mobile apps will increase, especially when it comes to visitor check-in. Patrons love the ease and convenience of checking in with a mobile app instead of waiting in line in the lobby, and with time, we estimate that many consumers will come to expect such a service.
In-Room Technology
Many hotel listings you find on the Southeast International website boast high-tech in-room technology, such as high-speed wifi and high definition flat screen TVs. This trend is expected to continue to expand in 2017, with more motels, hotels, and luxury properties following suit to satisfy the wants of tech-savvy consumers.
More Public Social Spaces
Hotel interior designers and engineers are putting more focus on public social spaces to get people out of their rooms and interacting with others. This includes on-site cafes, outdoor seating areas, and a more comfortable, welcoming seating area in the lobby. If you’re considering purchasing or renovating a hotel property, you might think about hopping on board this train and opening up more social space on your property.
Additional On-Site Food Options
Today’s hotel and motel guests expect more than just one on-site dining option. We can definitely expect to see more hotel and motel owners providing their guests with several (three or more) dining options, even more so than room service. This may include an on-site coffee shop, luxury restaurant, or bar and lounge.
Stronger Security
It’s clear to all of us here at Southeast International that security was a big deal to hotel guests in 2016 and will continue to be a top priority in 2017. More and more property owners are investing in lobby cameras and additional security measures.
