Hotel Management Trend: Employee Recognition
Recognizing Your Employees
In the hospitality industry, your staff is one of your most essential assets. They’re basically the face of your company. When your guests come to your hotel, it isn’t you that they’re interacting with, they’re interacting with the receptionists, the bellhops, the concierge, and your housekeepers. It’s important that you keep staff members happy and motivated so they can make your guests feel at home in your hotel. One way to do this is by recognizing employee excellence. Today in the Southeast International Hotel Brokers blog, we’ll talk more about this.
The Importance of Employee Recognition
Obviously, a good employee is going to do a good job for you no matter what. But that doesn’t mean they don’t appreciate being recognized for it. Recognizing your employees for their contributions and accomplishments not only makes them more motivated but it also can increase your employee retention. People don’t want to work somewhere if upper management never acknowledges their hard work. But what can you do to show your employees that you appreciate them?
How to Recognize Your Employees
There are several ways to let your employees know that you recognize their hard work:
Incentives
It never hurts to incentivize your employees for a job well done. This is especially the case if they’ve been working for you for a while. Show them that you appreciate their loyalty with bonuses, raises, paid time off, and more. You want to keep turnover to a minimum. Loyal guests love to see the same friendly faces when they come back. If you can keep a good employee around for the long-term, it benefits everyone.
Guest Reviews
Sometimes an employee does such a great job that a customer may leave a review specifically highlighting that employee. When this happens, make sure you recognize them for it. You can even offer small bonuses for something like this. This will help to make sure your employees are always going above and beyond for guests.
Recognition from Management
Management should make it a point to give praise to employees too. Even something as simple as having an employee come to their office and letting them know their work hasn’t gone unnoticed can do a lot to boost an employee’s morale.
