Business Travel Trends for 2019

Business traveler at hotel

As a hotel owner, you need to appeal to a variety of customer demographics. One particular demographic that tends to bring in a lot of revenue is business travel. By capitalizing on business travel trends, you can make the most of this revenue stream. Today in the Southeast International Hotel Brokers blog, we’ll talk about some business travel trends to pay attention to in 2019.

Business Travel Trends for 2019

Here are some business travel trends to watch out for in 2019:

Machine Learning

If you haven’t heard about machine learning yet, you will soon. Machine learning is a form of artificial intelligence. It’s essentially when a system is able to learn from patterns and infer data, as opposed to receiving a specific command. This means a system can make decisions without the need for human input.

This is useful for the hotel industry because it helps to automate data processing and it has the capability to enhance and simplify user experiences. Expect this technology to be more widespread in a multitude of industries soon.

Business and Pleasure

Mixing business and pleasure, sometimes less affectionately known as ‘bleisure’, isn’t going anywhere. Many business travelers view traveling as a major perk of their job. This is especially the case with those travelers who choose to extend their business trip to include some leisure time. More and more travelers are becoming comfortable with doing this, so make sure you’re equipped to accommodate them, both for their business and leisure needs.

Loyalty Matters Less

Since business travelers tend to go to various cities, they tend to have to choose hotels based more on location than brand. That being said, you can still foster some loyalty in your business travelers by trying to make their experience more personalized to them.

Customers in general, not just business guests, really appreciate the personalization aspect of loyalty. Of course, that doesn’t mean loyalty programs are completely dead. Plenty of people still want them, it’s just that loyalty is evolving and it’s important to keep up.
